Friday, Nov. 14
Arrival, settle in, light dinner prepared by Deborah at Casa Colonial, evening walk to Cathedral Soledad.
Saturday, Nov. 15
Yoga option, breakfast, morning tour of Botanical Gardens, lunch at the zocalo, orientation of town, exchange money to pesos, visit mercados, shop in craft stores, museums, churches, then time to rest in afternoon, or go to art galleries/museums on your own. Help Deborah shop for ingredients at the amazing Abastos Market and cook dinner with Deborah at Casa Colonial. Local historian will join us after the meal to enlighten us on the interesting history of Oaxaca.
Sunday, Nov 16
Yoga option, breakfast, guided morning tour at Monte Alban, the pre-Columbian archeological pyramids which look over Oaxaca City. Chocolate cooking class with Oscar Carroza in the afternoon. Dinner independently in town.
Monday, Nov.17
Yoga option, breakfast. Drive to the village of Matatlan to watch a family make their own brand of high quality mescal, visit a small farm where they make the local Oaxacan cheese in Rojas de Cuatepetec, special lunch arrangement, cocktails and dinner at Rancho Pitaya.
Tuesday, Nov. 18
Yoga, breakfast, spend the day in the beautiful town of Teotitlan, cooking our lunch with Reyna Mendoza, afternoon carpet demo by premier weavers, visit 1,000-year-old Tule tree, time for shopping. Dinner back in Oaxaca, independently.
Wednesday, Nov. 19
Yoga, breakfast, shopping for produce at the Etla market with Susanna Trilling, then spend the day cooking our two meals at her rancho.
Thursday, Nov. 20
Full day arts tour with Linda Hannah, a folk arts specialist and collector of Mexican contemporary art; visit artists in their villages, homes, and lunch at Linda's with opportunity to view her private art collection. Cook dinner with Deborah at Casa Colonial.
Friday, Nov. 21
Final day to go to museums, galleries, shop, take a temascal (traditional Mexican cleansing), chocolate massage, relax, shop, eat, shop...! An optional half-day hike will be arranged for those interested. Farewell dinner and Gueleguetza dance show at Quinta Real.
